Servo Motor Cable Selection


Servo motors are an indispensable part of the automation industry, industrial industry, CNC machine tools and other fields. So what kind of connection cable should we choose? Regardless of the brand of wire, the usage of the wire will not be much different. The choice of wires such as Panasonic, Mitsubishi, and Inovance is similar. General servo cables contain power lines, brake lines, and encoder lines. Servo motors can be divided into two categories according to power: low-power servo motors and high-power motors. Those below 750W are low-power motors, and those below 750W are generally high-power motors.

The power cord is also called the power line: the power cable is generally a 4-core cable, or a 3-core cable (ungrounded), which is UVW PE and serves as a power bridge connecting the motor and the drive.

Encoder line: responsible for transmitting signals to the motor, 2 or 3 pairs of core wires, incremental selection can be 4 pairs or even 7 pairs.

Brake cable: usually a 2-core cable, responsible for controlling the operation of the motor. Usually a 2-core cable.
Power cord selection: For small power motors, you can choose 4*0.5 or 4*0.75. For high power motors, you can choose 4*1.0 or 4*1.5. If it exceeds 2500W, it is recommended to choose 4*2.5 or even higher. The specific square number should be selected according to the motor power.
Encoder cable selection: The main function of the encoder cable is to transmit signals. The current it carries is relatively small, but its anti-interference performance is particularly high, so the structure should be twisted and shielded to resist external interference. For incremental encoder cables, 2 pairs of 0.2 square (24AWG) twisted-pair shielded cables can be used, and for absolute encoder cables, 3 pairs of 0.2 square (24AWG) twisted-pair shielded cables can be used. If the connection length is too long, it is recommended to use a cable with a larger square (22AWG).
Cable selection for application:
According to different motion environments, you can choose 2 million times servo series cables, 8 million times servo series cables, 15 million times drag chain series cables and 30 million times drag chain series cables. According to the use environment, you can customize the cables suitable for the corresponding environment, such as oil resistance, wear resistance and other requirements.

4*0.5 square≤750W
4*0.75 square≤750W
4*1.0 square 750W-1500W
4*1.5 square 750W-2000W
4*2.5 square 2000W-3500W
Encoder line selection:
2*2*0.2 square incremental
2*2*0.3 square increment type more than 20 meters
